The Director of Puducherry Institute of Linguistic and Culture, Mrs. Bhakthavatsala Bharathi, claims that Tamil cuisine is healthy and provides a lot of nutrients. In Kerala, coconut oil is preferred over mustard oil as compared to the North, she added. According to her, olive oil is just a marketing gimmick which is gaining attention nowadays.

In the growing market of organic food, the government has taken various measure to promote organic techniques of farming. In the similar line of efforts, the Centre has encouraged Indian Scientists to innovate and develop technologies and resources for organic agriculture in the North Eastern Region of India which serves as a potential place for farming. The farmers are also encouraged to use organic manure and promote e-marketing, where the farmers could sell their agricultural production in other parts of the country.
