To improve health, to ensure no one is at the risk of financial losses because of ill health and to be responsive to legitimate demands of the population are the three goals of the country's health system as per WHO. Given these three goals the fourth National Food Health Survey (NFHS-4) gave a lot of reasons for people to cheer. The survey released last week was conducted in 13 states and 2 union territories addressed the three goals.

Dietary guidelines issued by the US encouraged Americans to reduce their Saturated Fat and sugar intake to less than 10% of their daily calories. Customer advocates said that the guidelines did not mention reducing the intake of meat. These guidelines are issues every five years for the US citizen for their well being but this time, it did not incorporate WHO's views on processed meat and how it can cause cancer.

A new study conducted by Jaypee hospital in 51 private schools in Noida concluded that 22% of the 8,054 children were prone to liver diseases. This may be because of the increasing cases of obesity which may be due to a drastic change in lifestyle which involves frequent consumption of junk food and lack of physical exercise. The health of children may be at risk as WHO in their recent studied said that around 2 lakh people die due to liver ailments.

As per the recent report, Singapore is the world's healthiest countries. India though secured the 103rd position. The list was creating using data from the United Nations, the World Bank and the World Health Organization. The study also revealed a growth in healthy food consumption such as fruits and vegetables throughout the world.
