Shortbread House of Edinburgh was initiated by Anthony and his wife Fiona of Laing family in 1989. Laing family has a great generation's experience in baking. Anthony Laing had a strong baking tradition. His father was a chairman of United biscuits and their family was once touted as the baking dynasty. Owing to their family tradition, a young couple from Laing family bought an existing one-woman business based in Scotland's historic capital: Edinburgh. In order to make it a true family business, the three Laing children , dressed in oversized white overalls joined their parents in the bakery. Soon, two of their children gained valuable experience in school and other jobs, joined the family business.
