Sunsweet is a brand introduced by Sunseet Growers Inc which is an agricultural marketing cooperative founded in 1917. They started as California Prune and Apricot Grower's Association. They handled around 43% crops in their first year. In 1932, their first prune juice was introduced. In 1958, they changed their name to Sunsweet Growers Inc. In 1965, they introduced their first pitted prune. In 1975, new facilities were incorporated. In 1994, the facility expanded. In 2007, individually wrapped prunes were launched, named as Ones. 

Today, Sunsweet Growers Inc. are the largest handlers of dry fruits. They are known for prunes and also manufactures various other dried fruits and juice products. Around Seventy-Thousand prunes a year is processed by them. Prunes, cranberries, nectarines, mangoes, apricots, pineapples and dates are produced and distributed by the company. It is one of the top brands of America.
