Short term sleep can take a toll on your heart

As per research it has been proven that short-term sleep deprivation as happens in 24-hour shifts can cause a major increase in cardiac contractility, blood pressure, and heart rate. For this study, Daniel Kuetting from the university of Bonn in Germany recruited 20 healthy radiologists, which included 19 men and one woman, with an average age of 31.6 years. These participants underwent cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging before and after a 24-hour shift, they showed a significant increase in blood pressure and heart rate after short-term sleep deprivation.
