Magnesium is a vital mineral as it is involved in a number of chemical reactions in our body which contribute to overall health and well-being, and yet people fail to reach the daily recommended intake. Food items which are rich in magnesium include nuts, seeds, avocados, dark chocolate, legumes, fatty fish, tofu, leafy green veggies, and bananas. Health experts advise us to eat foods which are rich in magnesium because it leads to improved health and immune system.
The Health Bureau of Taichung City Government executed checks on food safety and found 13 products to be defying regulations including noodles, snow fungus and duck blood. Health officials uncovered a steamed spring roll that had rongalite, a prohibited bleaching agent, pepper powder formulated from magnesium carbonate (non-food grade) and tea leaves that had pesticide residue. They were either removed right away from the shelf or destroyed.
