Why are we so afraid of the dark?

The irrational fear of darkness or night, Nyctophobia is largely attributed to our dormant instincts. It all started thousands of years ago when the dark was meant as the time when the predators, enemies, and other hidden dangers planned to come out to harm humans who were staying in the jungle. There was a need to stay warm during the night and it the night also took out the ability to see. It seems our minds have carried on these fears.
