There has been a huge rise of mental health illness like stress and depression including other serious problems due to the unmatched level of work pressure and personal problems that we go through. Research has shown that such illness can be avoided by practicing group meditation, a therapy which has shown remarkable improvement in a group of people with some or the other mental illness. Results revealed that the average rate for 15 different indexes in multiple questionnaires decreased to a large extent in both the scales.
Ever feel like the handsome hunk or someone with the most oozing appeal around town that the ladies just love to dig? Errr… we meant the “mosquito” ladies since only the females bite. Research has shown that mosquitos exhibit blood-sucking preferences which can be narrowed down to two categories – sight and smell. People dressed in darker colors attract plenty of mosquito ‘vision’ attention. ‘Smell’ attractors include the carbon dioxide you emit, or smells from your skin or breath like lactic acid or acetone. Another factor is your body temperature or warmth, as people with higher body temperatures indicate that blood – their most favourite treat – is closer to the skin surface.
Ice-cream sellers will agree with this one, obviously. A research conducted by Mr. Poortvliet, a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Neuroscience, has stated that humans are endothermic animals, meaning that we can control our body temperatures, irrespective of the weather outside. Poortvliet’s research shows that Ice Cream ends up warming the human body when eaten due to its caloric content. The initial cooling effect is rapidly replaced by heat generated by digestive processes needed to break down the calories and that leads to an increase in body temperature. The bonus? It won’t melt like it does in summers! The cold never bothered us anyway.
The best way to combat dryness is an oil massage. The right kind of oil will relieve the itchiness caused by dryness and help retain natural moisture of your skin. Oils that can be very effective and helpful in this process include olive oil, mustard oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil and tea tree oil. Smooth and soft skin is just a massage away.
A lot of food is wasted in the holiday season. To avoid this, plan your meals before you shop. Use up leftovers the next day instead of throwing them out. Let your guests take only as much as they want so that not a lot is wasted. Get creative and mix up the leftovers for a nice new dish. In addition, it's always wiser to buy frozen foods if you think you won't finish it before it goes stale.
According to an Amsterdam-based study, what humans see from the outer corner of their eyes is partly an optical illusion which is generated by the brain. The study shows that in certain circumstances the brain automatically “fills in the blanks” in the visual field which is outside the area of direct focus. This conjures the illusion of having as much visual information about the periphery as in the center.
According to psychology today, the smell is processed by the olfactory bulb, which is directly connected to the amygdala and hippocampus of the brain which is responsible for storing emotions and memories. The Olfactory-bulb is a neural-strand which starts from the nose and ends at the bottom of our brain. This is why certain smells can induce memories like cinnamon and pine reminds people of their childhood days.
It is observed that the more intense the lights are, the more intense the emotions of humans will be. The small amount of light which penetrates through the airplane windows is incredibly soft. This is the reason why airplanes are looking for establishing corporate LED lights which are highly durable and can change the vibe of the entire cabin. All aircraft companies are looking for such lighting options to only calm but refresh the passengers.
