While you may get most of your antioxidants from coffee, those found in fruits and vegetables are of a different kind. These are also required by your body. Hence, don’t rely fully on coffee for your daily dose of anti-oxidants.

While there is no formal research that validates that a juice diet is an effective way of losing weight, the calorie content is very low. Initially, it does help with rapid weight loss but may have harmful effects in the long run such as inadequate fiber, fatigue and weakness, deficiencies and reduced muscle mass. According to People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), beer is healthier than milk. The organization has researched for quite a while now and has started testing it. It claims than beer strengthens the bones and aids in longevity whereas milk is known to cause diabetes, obesity, and cancer. A billboard sponsored by PETA has been put up in the US, encouraging youth to have more beer than milk. However, it has not been proved universal yet.

A government study has found about 5 different toxins, lead, heavy metals antimony, cadmium, chromium and the compound DEHP or Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, in the cold drinks manufactured by two MNCs namely, PepsiCo and Coca-cola. The study was carried out on Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Coca-cola, 7up and Sprite from PET bottles they were in. Hence, beware of the health consequences!

A research has found that drinking cherry juice can lower your blood pressure significantly especially in males with early hypertension. It showed results which were better than those received through medication. Findings show that men who consumed a particularly sour cherry juice saw a significant reduction in their blood pressure in three hours. The result was compared to that of anti-hypertensive drugs and was found to be good enough.

101 varieties of health drinks were launched by the Kerala government on Wednesday, 17th February ’16 with a motto to bring about total prohibition by the end of 2023. This initiative will be called ‘Subodham’ which is against alcoholism and substance abuse. The drinks will be called “Magical Drinks” and will be made using tender coconut water, cucumber, mint, milk and Indian sarsaparilla. These drinks are not meant as a substitute for liquor but as healthy retreats which will help cleanse the organs of the human body. They will soon be introduced in the market.
