Ketosis is a state of metabolism where ketones become the primary source of energy for the brain and entire body. This happens when insulin and carb intake levels are very low. The brain uses ketones for energy when it does not get enough glucose. Ketogenic diets can help you reduce epileptic seizures in children effectively. A study found eating food items which are rich in Omega-3s can help you compensate harmful effects of consuming sugar. Omega-3 fatty acid which is also known as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) apparently reverses the harmful changes produced by fructose from sugar and sugary foods. One of the significant flaws of the modern diet is that it lacks fiber. Whole plant foods have lead to heavily processed products that lose most of their fiber content. There is a lot of evidence which supports that low-fiber diet can adversely affect the gut microbiota. This ultimately leads to the development of several chronic lifestyle diseases. Dietary fiber plays an important role for the good bacteria living in your gut and helps you to preserve a healthy gut microbiota. Hence, there should be a regular intake of fiber in your diet.
